"Baby, don't you know I can't live without your love?"

Not only did I post almost every dress I tried on during my search for 'the one', I also uploaded the hilarious videos taken at Kleinfeld for my close friends to enjoy on my FB page. My mom, brother and cousin came with. Beyond the Coming to America songs played in the background and the 'yaaaaassssss honey, you wearing that's, it was an experience filled with love and laughter.

One thing that actually surprised me quite a bit was the overwhelming number of upvotes a particular gown with cutouts and low back received online that didn't even make my top 5! It may have been flattering according to others, but it for some reason didn't resonate with me. Sometimes we have a significant other that flatters us and makes us look good, but doesn't allow the latitude for us to be 100% authentic. This may be someone who is gorgeous arm candy, has a great career, supports and uplifts their community, has been loyal to you over a significant period of time, etc. But someone great on paper or whom your family and friends fawn over doesn't necessitate you being with them. It was fun to include so many of my friends in my search, and I love the crowd-sourced reactions! I am also ecstatic to both wear something and be with someone fully representative of me. I hope it shows.

Leading up to the big dubya, I am wearing white (and white-adjacent) in mental and sartorial preparation. I am always in color. So to strip my wardrobe for just one week of my go-to statement pieces actually took a lot of thought. I'm focusing on different aspects of my personality that make random appearances throughout my days, in a culmination that does not end with, but includes, my testimony of commitment and honor to God and my life partner. ❤
